Tibetan Singing Bowl

Tibetan singing bowls are used to enhance meditation and also have been adopted in world music. The bowls produce a deep humming sound which induces deep relaxation and stress reduction. As a result, they were adopted as an important tool for the practice of meditation in Tibet and worldwide.

Tibetan singing bowls originated in India in about the 6th century B.C.E. and they were brought to Tibet by Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) in the 8th century. Ironically the singing bowl is actually a bell. However, instead of hanging from the top down it is sitting inversely on it’s base. The same deep vibration produced by striking the bell, can be modified by rubbing the outside edge of the rim with a special mallet. Our selection of singing bowls is of the same high standards that are used in the Tibetan monasteries. However, these singing bowls are also ideal to use in your own home.
