Oxidized Copper 14″ Green Tara Statue
Green Tara portrays the most popular emanation of the Tara Bodhisattva. Most certainly, our Green Tara statue represents her many attributes including speed, compassion and versatility.
It is the objective of Green Tara to free her devotees from the dogmatism of worldly existence. Additionally, during meditation practice your concentration can be enhanced with her assistance. As a result, devotees will elude distractions from the five poisons of greed, pride, jealousy, fear and anger.
Symbolism of Green Tara Statues
Our Green Tara statue is imbued with the rich luster of an antiquated finish. Additionally, the skilled artisan who completed the statue included her Bodhisattva crown and jewels. This results in a unique finish that was expertly crafted. The crown and jewels symbolize her refusal to accept Buddhahood until more females are represented among Buddhas. As such she remains a Bodhisattva until her vow is fulfilled.
Additional attributes of the statue include her partially extended right leg which is the trademark of all Green Tara statues. She is always alert and ready to come to the aid of sentient life. This Green Tara statue is also depicting the protection mudra with her raised left hand and the gift giving mudra with her lowered right hand. She always has the well being of her devotees in the forefront of her thoughts.
Green Tara’s Symbols of Enlightenment
Our Green Tara statue features a lotus flower growing over each of her shoulders. The lotus flower is very symbolic in Buddhist beliefs. This is because in the natural environment, the lotus flower grows from the muddy pond bottom and rises above the murky water to blossom in the clean air and sunshine. This is an important metaphor for devotees rising above the sea of suffering and obtaining the fruits of Nirvana.
Additionally, the lotus growing over left shoulder remains unopened. This is to encourage devotees to strive for diligent practice so they can obtain the rewards that await them. Click here to learn more about the Tara Bodhisattva.
