Our 12″ Amitabha Buddha statue was hand crafted by our master artisan in Patan, Nepal. Amitabha is known as the “Buddha of Infinite Light”. These teachings are recorded in the Buddhist text called the “Larger Sutra of Immeasurable Life”. Because of the teachings found there we know that Amitabha was once a Bodhisattva named Dharmakara. As a result of thousands of Bodhisattva lifetimes he was able to accumulate an infinite amount of merit.
Additionally, Amitabha has his own pure land called Sukhavati. This is very important to adherents to Pure Land Buddhism. Sukhavati is by far the most popular and sought after of all the pure lands. Amitabha has made entry to his pure land contingent on devotees reciting his name or mantra. If so, they may gain admittance to Sukhavati and remain there until they are able to become fully enlightened. Additionally, they will receive relief from suffering and guidance from the Bodhisattvas and Buddhas who reside there. Click here to learn more about Amitabha’s pure land.
