12″ Fully Gilded Green Tara Statue
This 12″ Green Tara statue was sculpted by our master artisans in Patan, Nepal. As a result, you can rest assured that you have purchased a monastic quality statue. This is because the sculptors in Nepal have been developing their craft for over 1000 years. Additionally, they are the preferred source of statues and ritual items for the Tibetan monasteries.
Our Green Tara statues are hand carved using the lost wax sculpting method. Therefore, each statue features the traditional mudras and poses but it also has unique features. The statue is also face painted by hand in intricate detail.
Green Tara Statue Special Features
Green Tara sits in open pose which is unique to her. This is because she is dedicated to relieving sentient life of their suffering. She is ready to spring into action at any time. As a result, the right leg is outstretched and the left lag is drawn in to portray meditative contemplation.
Traditional features of the statue include the 3 neck lines, third eye of wisdom and single lotus pedestal. Additionally, she is portraying the Varada (gift giving) mudra and also the Abhaya (fearlessness) mudra. Both of these mudras are used by high level Bodhisattvas and also Buddhas. Green Tara is also depicted with the intricately carved crown and jewels of a Bodhisattva.
An additional feature that is unique to Tara are the lotus flowers that are growing over her shoulders. The blossoming lotus flowers encourage devotees to be diligent in their practice in order to obtain the fruits of Nirvana.
