Description

13.5″ Chakrasamvara Statue w/Consort (Yab Yum)

This Chakrasamvara statue depicts one of the most venerable tantric deities with his consort Vajravarahi. Together they are joined in a sensual embrace representing the eternal union of bliss and emptiness. Additionally, his 12 arms portray his liberation from the 12 links to samsara. The two main hands of Chakrasamvara are wrapped around his consort holding the vajra and ghanta bell. As a result, he is seen holding the symbol for wisdom (ghanta) compassion (vajra).

However, these powerful deities transcend existence and also non-existence. Beneath his left foot he steps on the breast of the goddess Kalarati who represents non-existence. Additionally, with his right foot he steps on the back of Bhairawa the worldly god who represents existence.

Our Chakrasamvara statue with consort is sculpted with 4 faces each with a crown adorned with 5 skulls. The five skulls represent the five aggregates that he has overcome and abandoned. Additionally, the skulls represent the five poisons which have been transformed into the five transcendent wisdoms. His consort Vajravarahi also wears the crown adorned with five skulls and they both wear a necklace strung with 50 human heads. The human heads declare their liberation from ordinary appearances and conceptions.

This Chakrasamvara statue with consort was handmade in Patan, Nepal using the traditional lost wax method. As a result, the sculpture shows the craftsmanship and skills that have been passed down for many generations. Indeed, the fine detail of the Nepali sculptures has been preferred by the Tibetan monasteries for many centuries. Therefore, when you purchase this yab yum Chakrasamvara statue you can rest assured that you have procured a monastic quality statue.
