Description

Lord Kubera Statue (Antique Finish)

Our Lord Kubera statue has a history that is based in Hindu mythology. In Hinduism, he is believed to be the lord of wealth and he will bring riches to those who worship him. Devotees who want to win the lottery or are starting a business will be sure to have a Lord Kubera statue in their home or business. He is often depicted with jewels. Additionally, he is sometimes seen as a dwarf, big belly, one eye and he only has eight teeth.

However, Lord Kubera has also been adopted into Buddhism. As a result, his character has taken different dimensions according to the geographical area. Theravada Buddhists believe he is one of the 4 heavenly Kings who each guards a specific direction. Our Lord Kubera guards the northerly direction.

Lord Kubera Statue Features

However, this Lord Kubera statue was designed with Tibetan Buddhists in Mind. Tibetan Buddhist depictions often show Lord Kubera with a mongoose. The mongoose is the enemy of the Nagas and the Nagas were snakes. The snake is emblematic of wealth and greed in Buddhist beliefs. Although Lord Kubera is often depicted with jewels, it is because he is expressing generosity. Thus, our Lord Kubera statue is depicted with a precious stone in his outstretched right hand and a mongoose is poised to strike it in his left hand.

Our Lord Kubera statue is depicted with the crown and jewels of a Bodhisattva. He has a striking blue mustache, eyebrows and beard. Additionally, he is depicted with large belly, flaring nostrils and large wide eyes. The craftsmanship of the statue is excellent and it features an exquisite 24 karat gold gilding.
